Zoom into Soil: Perspectives on Regenerative Farming
In this webinar, Prof. Jonathan Storkey, agroecologist at Rothamsted Research, and Dr. Jenny Bussell, Principal Scientist at The Allerton Project, discuss Perspectives on Regenerative Farming.
In this webinar, hear from Dr. Laura Bentley and Prof. Budiman Minasny as they discuss two recent papers on Soil Carbon and Artificial Intelligence from the European Journal of Soil Science.
Dr. Laura Bentley will be speaking about a recently accepted paper on ‘First Signs that National Cropland Organic Carbon Loss is Reversing in British Topsoils’. Laura is a spatial and environmental scientist at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, interested in the efficacy of land management policies for carbon sequestration and their long-term viability. She is the theme lead for the UKCEH Countryside Survey soils programme and lead data analyst for the soil and freshwater research themes of the Environment and Rural Affairs Monitoring & Modelling Programme (ERAMMP) national field survey.
Professor Budiman Minasny will be speaking on a recently published paper on ‘Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Applications in Soil Science’. Budiman Minasny is a Professor in soil-landscape modelling at the University of Sydney. He is passionate about the role of soil in managing climate change, food, water, energy security, and maintaining biodiversity. He has more than 160 international journal publications and is recognised as a leader in digital soil mapping and modelling. He has used breakthrough soil mapping and modelling techniques to unlock fundamental new knowledge urgently needed to protect and enhance soil carbon stocks and to sustain agriculture and ecosystems, worldwide.
