Zoom into Soil: Perspectives on Regenerative Farming
In this webinar, Prof. Jonathan Storkey, agroecologist at Rothamsted Research, and Dr. Jenny Bussell, Principal Scientist at The Allerton Project, discuss Perspectives on Regenerative Farming.
Welcome to the Zoom into Soil: Asbestos in Soils video from the British Society of Soil Science, supported by ACAD.
Our first speaker was Simon Hay, a Senior Environmental Consultant at Arcadis. Simon’s presentation, An Introduction to Land Contamination Risk Assessment: Asbestos and Other Contaminants, provided a brief overview of the Land Contamination Risk Assessment process, including its objectives and the assessment framework. He outlined the conceptual site model and source-pathway-receptor approach, relating this to agricultural settings in a soil environment. Due to its widespread occurrence and the unique challenges it poses, asbestos was discussed along with other potential contaminants.
Our second speaker was Stewart Powell, Head of compliance for John F Hunt Environmental. Asbestos in Soil, The Safe Removal and Cleaning of Contaminated Soil covered planning the work, control measures and disposal.
