Feb 15, 2023 | Blog, News

We are pleased to announce that the British Society of Soil Science 2023 Early Careers’ Conference will be taking place on Wednesday 6 – Thursday 7 December in Belfast.

The conference will take place immediately after the BSSS Annual Conference and will be free of charge for BSSS Early Career members. A wide range of Early Career members from academia, industry, and policy will come together for a variety of themed sessions, including talks, posters, and workshops, with social activities including a conference dinner. The packed two-day event, set in the historic Assembly Buildings Conference Centre in the heart of Belfast, will provide delegates with a fantastic opportunity to see the latest research and developments within soil science.

Abstracts

The scientific committee have been accepting abstracts in one of five topics, linked to the conference theme, Soil Management and Monitoring:

    1. Nutrient Management
    2. Soil Carbon
    3. Water Management and Quality
    4. Technology and Innovation
    5. Soil Health
    6. Other (Early Careers’ entrants can select ‘Other’ if their project doesn’t fit in with the main categories.)

We have reopened submissions for poster presentations at our Annual Conference and Early Careers’ Conference, so there is still a chance to present your latest research. To have your abstract considered, submit it via the submission form by Friday 13 October.

We have a varied and diverse programme at the conference featuring 2 keynote talks; 3 workshop sessions including grant writing, soil science in industry, and membership and CPD; a conference dinner; a walking trail, poster presentations, oral presentations, and times for networking with fellow delegates and the BSSS Early Careers’ Committee.
