Submissions for poster presentations have re-opened. The deadline for oral presentations has passed.
We are currently accepting abstracts for our 2023 Annual Conference and also our Early Careers’ Conference.
Taking place from 4–5 December (Annual Conference) and 6-7 December (Early Careers’ Conference) respectively in Belfast, these events will provide delegates with a fantastic opportunity to see the latest research and developments within soil science.
The scientific committee have been accepting abstracts in one of five topics, linked to the conference theme, Soil Management and Monitoring:
-
- Nutrient Management
- Soil Carbon
- Water Management and Quality
- Technology and Innovation
- Soil Health
- Other (Early Careers’ entrants can select ‘Other’ if their project doesn’t fit in with the main categories.)
We have reopened submissions for poster presentations only at our Annual Conference and Early Careers’ Conference, so there is still a chance to present your latest research. To have your abstract considered, submit it via the submission form by Friday 13 October.
Please note: Abstracts will only be considered if they meet the following criteria:
• Length: Maximum of 500 words
• Keywords: Up to 10 descriptive ‘search’ keywords must be included
• Details: Lead author’s organisation and email details must be included
Focus the weight of the abstract on the content of your presentation and not the background and context.
In the interest of fairness, all abstracts will be blind reviewed. Please do not include your name, institution or other identifying characteristics in the 500-word abstract.
Poster presenters will be expected to be available at their posters during the designated poster view times during the conference.
Abstracts for poster presentations are welcome from across academia, research and industry. Case studies and research outline or progress reports are particularly welcomed for the Early Careers’ Conference. (Early Careers’ entrants can select ‘Other’ if their project doesn’t fit in with the main categories.)
You can submit your abstract to both the Annual Conference (4-5 December) and the Early Careers’ Conference (6-7 December) if you wish.
To have your abstract considered, submit it via the submission form
For more information, please refer to our Abstract Submission Guidance Document.
This is also a great opportunity to have your work reviewed and maybe even published by the BSSS journals. Editor-in-Chief, Professor Jennifer Dungait, is looking forward to reviewing the submissions:
“As the Editors-in-Chief of the BSSS journals (European Journal of Soil Science – EJSS, and Soil Use and Management – SUM), we are delighted to be supporting the British Society of Soil Science Annual and Early Careers’ Conference this year, and to be part of the scientific committee reviewing this year’s abstracts. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to learn first-hand about the exciting new soil science that BSSS members, as researchers and practitioners, have been working on and we hope that the presenters will consider submitting their findings as papers to the EJSS or SUM in the future. We look forward to meeting you in Belfast later this year!”
We are delighted to be working in partnership with VisitBelfast in the delivery of both the events, and would like to thank them for their continued support and expertise.
