Soil Matters is our bi-annual membership publication which is available free of charge to all members.

We also publish two journals in partnership with Wiley; the European Journal of Soil Science and Soil Use and Management.

Soil Matters is our annual membership publication which is available free of charge to all members. We welcome contributions to the magazine on related themes. Please download our Submission Guidelines for further details.

The magazine is available online to members whilst being logged into their account.

The European Journal of Soil Science

EJSS has an Impact Factor of 4.2 and ranked 13/37.

Six editions are published each year, with approximately 130 papers published. The current Editor in Chief is Professor Jennifer Dungait and information on submitting a paper for inclusion is available on the EJSS website.

Soil Use and Management (SUM)

SUM has an Impact Factor of 3.8 and ranked 18/37.

It was first published in 1985 and is published quarterly, with approximately 80 papers appearing annually. The current Editor in Chief is Dr Deyi Hou and information on submitting a paper for inclusion is available on the SUM website.

Soil matters / The Auger (previous editions)

Previous editions of Soil Matters and The Auger are freely available for all.

Publish Open Access

Both the European Journal of Soil Science (EJSS) and Soil Use and Management (SUM) provide authors with the ability to publish their articles as open access. Many institutions and funders are part of the UK JISC agreement and cover the associated costs and publishing fees for UK researchers to publish Open Access.
