Join BSSS’ Early Careers Committee for Soils: Past, Present and Future, sponsored by Arcadis, from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 October, 10:00am – 3:15pm each day.
The conference will feature keynote presentations from:
- Dr Binoy Sarkar – Particulate plastics in the soil-plant system: Recent research advances and future potentials
- Dr Ria Mitchell – Palaeosols (fossil soils) as records of environmental, climatic, and evolutionary change through geologic time
- Professor Mark Fitzsimons – Creating the Earth – Fabricated Soil.
Over lunchtime, there will be oral and poster presentations from your peers as well as networking opportunities with other Early Career members.
We will also be hosting two workshops: Writing About Soils presented by Phoebe Weston, a biodiversity reporter at The Guardian, and Dr Olaf Schmidt, Deputy Editor for the European Journal of Soil Science, and Skills for Soil Scientists in Industry presented by Dr Helen Simpson from Wardell Armstrong. These workshops will take place in the afternoon of each day and be followed by a round-up of the day’s events.
The three-day conference is free of charge for Early Career members and promises to be an opportunity to learn, discuss and network! Please download the programme and speaker biographies and register in advance to book your place.
