Could you be the next Editor in Chief - European Journal of Soil Science?

The society is looking for a new Editor in Chief of the European Journal of Soil Science (EJSS).

EJSS is an international journal published by Wiley which aims to advance the fundamental understanding of the scientific principles involved in the many facets of soil science. It has ranked amongst the top rated soils journals for many years and provides an international forum for those undertaking innovative soil science research. The journal is published in six issues per year.

Society Fellow Professor Lorna Dawson receives her CBE from Her Majesty The Queen

Professor Lorna Dawson a Principal Soil Scientist at James Hutton Institute and Fellow of the Society, collected her Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for services to Soil and Forensic Science on Tuesday 13th November 2018 at Buckingham Palace. 

Professor Dawson pioneered forensic techniques that have helped solve more than 100 crimes.

Congratulations to Lorna from all at the British Society of Soil Science.

Defra workshops on use of Organic Amendments in Agriculture 2018

12th November 2018

Cranfield University in collaboration with Rothamsted Research, NIAB, Newcastle University and University of East Anglia have received funding from Defra to cooperate in a multidisciplinary project entitled Knowledge gaps and research priorities to optimise the use of organic amendments for sustainable intensification of UK agricultural systems. As part of this project, two workshops will be organised in East Anglia and South West to cover the arable and livestock areas respectively.
