An exciting opportunity for an ambitious post-doctoral researcher to work with a wider team exploring the processes underlying soil health indicators within the institute’s “Soil to Nutrition” programme, under the direction of Professor Jennifer Dungait in the Sustainable Agriculture Science Department at Rothamsted Research, Harpenden.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in experimental soil science and laboratory analysis with a track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals. The candidate should have a demonstrable understanding of the relationship between soil biology and soil physical characteristics including a good knowledge of the mathematical modelling of soil processes, a willingness to engage with both the drafting and production of research, and with the wider international research community.
The post will be based at Harpenden, but will require extended periods at the institute campus at North Wyke in Devon. Candidates should already possess a PhD in a relevant discipline such as soil biology, soil ecology, biogeochemistry or physics. Early career researchers with the potential to develop into independent principal investigators are particularly sought.
