The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) evaluation of its support for Early Career Researchers (ECRs)

8th August 2017

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is currently undertaking an evaluation of its support for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to:

  • Determine whether current strategy and activities are effective for maintaining a healthy research base for the environmental sciences,
  • Ensure that the training and opportunities available for NERC ECRs are appropriate for facilitating success in the broad range of careers they enter.

NERC have appointed DJS Research (an independent Market Research company) to carry out this evaluation. In order to do this, they have created an online survey to be completed by ECRs, and organisations that employ or support ECRs undertaking research within areas relevant to NERCs remit.

To complete the survey, please follow this link.

The online survey will run from 1 August to 2 October 2017.

As a thank you for completing the survey, a synopsis of the results will be provided at the end of the year

DJS Research are also interested in speaking to stakeholders / employers / people responsible for ECRs, who may have an opinion on this matter, in the form of a more in-depth, qualitative telephone interview. If this is relevant to you and you would be willing to participate, please contact Rebecca Bennett
